I was a bit worried where this was going with the mention of the starboard side of the marriage bed, but only for an instant.

I understand what it means to live so long with your wife that you develop a knowledge and understanding of all of her unique nuances.

In every Biblical sense we are now one, referring to our partnership, not becoming one flesh in terms of having children. Marrying later than most did in those days, we had children straight after marriage and did not wait the usual years to get to know each other. This gives me two advantages. I still have much to learn about her, and I have the time to learn.
